If we’re not safe—or we don’t feel safe—nothing else really matters. That’s why public safety is my top priority. It should be the first concern of every elected official in this city and especially in this borough. But right now, it isn’t. In fact, the political climate often rewards those who attack the police and undermine law enforcement. That has to change.
As Brooklyn Borough President, I will work to put more cops on the beat and will be a tireless advocate for the NYPD and all our law enforcement agencies. I will vehemently oppose the disastrous bail reform law that continues to put dangerous criminals back on our streets, threatening the safety of everyday New Yorkers.
Public safety isn’t just about policing—it’s also about smart infrastructure. I will emphasize the need to fix what’s broken, enhance lighting in public spaces, and transform vacant buildings and empty lots into housing, local businesses, or vibrant community gardens. Revitalizing parks and public spaces will also be part of our broader strategy to restore a sense of security and pride in every neighborhood.
And that’s just the beginning. Brooklyn deserves to feel safe again—and I will make sure that happens.
